A Refurbishment by Braid Mechanical & Electrical Services

Revitalising Aēsop at 239 Ingram Street St, Glasgow: A Remarkable Shop Refit by Braid Mechanical & Electrical Services

In the heart of Glasgow’s bustling shopping district, a transformation was brewing. The old, tired space at 239 Ingram Street was about to receive a vibrant makeover, thanks to the meticulous craftsmanship of Braid Mechanical & Electrical Services. As the dust settled and the paint dried, a new AESOP store emerged, exuding elegance and functionality, seamlessly blending the old and new.

Powering Up: Switchgear and General Power

The backbone of any modern retail space is its power supply, and Braid M&E left no stone unturned in ensuring that 239 Ingram Street was well-equipped. Two new 12W TP&N DNT boards were meticulously installed, serving power, lighting, and mechanical controls throughout the store. The retail unit’s power supply was ingeniously derived from the existing cable termination and meter located in the basement. New electrical distribution boards were added at basement level and within the staff break-out space, ensuring a robust and flexible power infrastructure. Power sockets and supplies were thoughtfully positioned to align with the fit-out plans, leaving no detail to chance.

Illuminating Brilliance: Lighting and Emergency Lighting

Lighting is the soul of retail spaces, and this refurbishment project did not disappoint. A brand-new lighting and emergency lighting system was seamlessly integrated throughout the shop, casting a warm, inviting glow on every corner. AESOP customers can now appreciate their products in the most flattering light while ensuring safety and compliance with emergency lighting standards.

Safety First: Fire Alarm and Disabled Toilet Alarm

Braid M&E’s commitment to safety extended to installing a state-of-the-art fire alarm panel, linked to the existing system within the building. The safety of all customers and staff is paramount. Additionally, a new pull switch cord alarm system was added to the disabled toilet, ensuring accessibility and peace of mind for all.

Keeping it Cosy: Heating and Plumbing

Glasgow’s chilly climate requires a reliable heating system, and the AESOP store at 239 Ingram Street was fitted with a Mitsubishi EcoDan system to provide Low-Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) for the space and heat the Domestic Hot Water (DHW). A combination of Zhender and Korado radiators, complete with thermostatic radiator valves, were strategically placed throughout the store to maintain optimum comfort. The air source heat pump efficiently fed the DHW Cylinder, while a wireless thermostat in the sales area ensured the temperature was always just right.

In terms of plumbing, domestic services supplies were seamlessly connected to the existing water supply in the basement, complete with emergency isolation valves. All outlets were equipped with Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV) to ensure consistent and safe water temperatures.

Breathe Easy: Ventilation

Behind the scenes, a dedicated extract system was discreetly installed in the back-of-house area, ensuring efficient ventilation and air quality. Safety was further bolstered with the inclusion of a fire damper in the system, providing peace of mind for everyone who enters the store.

Flowing Smoothly: Soils and Wastes

The meticulous planning by Braid M&E extended to the installation of new soils and wastes within the building. These systems were strategically tied into existing lines in the basement, serving critical areas like the cleaners’ space, DOCM toilet pack, staff welfare area, and front-of-house welfare area. Every detail was considered to ensure the efficient flow of waste and cleanliness of the space.

The AESOP store at 239 Ingram Street, Glasgow, now stands as a testament to the expertise and dedication of Braid Mechanical & Electrical Services. The meticulous installation of electrical systems, heating, plumbing, and safety features has breathed new life into this space. Shoppers can now enjoy a warm and welcoming environment, illuminated to perfection, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that safety is a top priority.
